NINE+QUARTER is an organic maternity and nursing wear brand.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides which makes it hypoallergenic and therefore far more gentle on your skin when it’s in contact with it all day. It is also gentler and kinder to the environment and the people involved in its production.
Natural fabrics are ideal during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding because they let your skin breath and keep you fresh and cool.
The fact that we have chosen to use organic and other naturally sustainable fabrics such as bamboo and modal is partly a result of looking for quality, durable materials that are gentle on the skin, and partly because we want our clothes to have as little negative impact on people and resources as possible.
This is something we feel passionately about as a brand and we are committed to making every collection more sustainable than the previous one.
In 2019 we aim to:
Introduce more sustainable packaging
Introduce other sustainable fabrics such as Modal and Tencel/Lyocell
Reduce the use of harsh chemicals from our manufacturing process
We are currently testing alternative techniques such as dying our garments rather than acid and stone washing them (both techniques are frequently used to give clothes that worn, rock-cool look), in order to minimise the use of toxic chemicals.
Our clothes are made in BSCI/SEDEX approved factories. In the next few years we hope to source GOTS certified organic fabrics and make our clothes in SA-8000 factories but please bear with us, at present our volumes are too small to meet the minimum quantities required.
Each year we will create one t-shirt with 100% of profits from that design going straight to your chosen charity.
Please stay tuned.
