As if it wasn’t already hard enough staying away from the vino in the midst of a global pandemic, now some of us are facing a teetotal Christmas too! Fear not ladies, whether you’re avoiding alcohol due to pregnancy, breastfeeding or simply don’t want to overindulge, we’re here to ensure you aren’t resigned to drinking sparkling grape juice this festive season.


Nothing says “party” like a cocktail, so we’ve put together a selection of tried and tested recipes that are festive, delicious and alcohol-free.

Faux Fizz

Enjoy a glass of something sparkling without an ounce of guilt this festive season with this superb recipe for Faux Fizz. We love the balance of sweetness, acidity and the je ne sais quoi that rosemary brings to the party. We’re sure you will too!


For the faux fizz syrup

  • 1 sliced pear
  • 4 dried apricots
  • 75g golden caster sugar
  • 25g honey
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • 1 strip lemon zest

To serve

  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • sparkling water

  1. Combine all syrup ingredients in a saucepan with 100ml of tap water and bring to a simmer. Heat for approximately 10 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved and the pear is soft. Leave to cool.
  2. Once cold, strain the syrup into a suitable container, add the apple cider vinegar and chill in the refrigerator for 30+ minutes. 
  3. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of chilled syrup into a champagne flute and top with sparkling water. Enjoy!
Super-easy Mock Mulled Wine

Nothing compares to snuggling up in front of the fire with a glass of mulled wine. Thankfully, you needn’t miss out this year. Don’t be put off by the long list of ingredients, making this mock mulled wine is as easy as can be!


Ingredients

  • 500ml pomegranate juice
  • 25g golden caster sugar
  • handful of frozen blackberries
  • 250ml apple juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • 3 black peppercorns
  • 1 orange, quartered

  1. Throw everything into a saucepan and heat gently until sugar has dissolved completely. Taste, adding more sugar if needed.
  2. Strain and enjoy while warm.

Ultimate Christmas Mocktail

For a refreshing, decadent drink that feels like a real treat, you can’t go wrong with the Ultimate Christmas Mocktail. Not only is it super simple to make, but there’s plenty for everyone. We guarantee you won’t be able to keep this one to yourself!


  • 4 cups cranberry juice
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • ice
  • Sprite or sparkling water

  1. Stir the juices together in a pitcher.
  2. Add ice and top up with sparkling water or Sprite.
  3. You’re done!
