5 Realistic Resolutions for 2021
As one year ends and another begins, many of us will be making resolutions - a chance to start fresh, armed with better choices for the year ahead. But, if you’re anything like the team here at N+Q, those resolutions tend to start off well, then meet a spectacular end around January 10th. I mean, really, how does anyone give up chocolate for a month, let alone a whole year?!
With that in mind, we’re opting for realistic resolutions for 2021, goals that may seem bite-sized, but that have maximum effect. Here are our top 5 resolutions, we hope you’ll pick one and join us in making 2021 a little healthier, both for ourselves and the planet.
#1. Drink more water
Queen, you need to up your water game. I know it, you know it, we all know it; now it’s time to do something about it. Depending on who you listen to, we should all be drinking between 2 and 3 litres of water per day, a little more even if you’re breastfeeding. Splurge on a gorgeous water bottle that you’ll actually use, and set achievable, increasing goals until you’re consistently drinking the recommended amount of water per day.
#2 Bring a cup
It’s 2021 ladies, we should all be carrying a reusable coffee cup as standard, yet judging from the queues at my local cafe most of us aren’t (ok, that includes me too). Start saying no to single-use cups and make the world a little greener.
#3 Support small businesses
The convenience of multinational corporations like Amazon can’t be overstated, we all love FREE next-day delivery. But at what cost? With so many small businesses struggling to stay afloat, make 2021 the year you find awesome local companies and independent online businesses to support. You might be surprised what’s on your doorstep and just how good many small biz products are...
#4 Walk more often
How many of us start the year with overambitious expectations of running our first half marathon or hitting the gym 3x per week? Instead, let’s set that bar a little lower and set ourselves up for success by just committing to walking more often. Whether it’s doing school pick-up on foot or winding down with a stroll and a good podcast, getting into the habit of walking will make those next steps toward exercise even easier.
#5 Join a charity
With everything going on right now, charities are working harder than ever to help the less fortunate and other worthwhile causes. A few pounds a month can make a huge difference, but your time is valuable too. Check out https://do-it.org/ for volunteer vacancies, or choose a cause close to your heart to give your financial support to for 2021.
So, what will your resolution be this year? We’d love to hear from you. Leave us a note in the comments!
